Flavors of Phoenix

A culinary experience that dives deeper than the stereotypical pomp and circumstance of a traditional gala food showcase, the Flavors of Phoenix lets our local culinary artisans craft their own, personal signature dishes. Each chef sets the scene – and the table – for his or her small party, then wows the guests with a personal menu of their own design. The result is an incredible evening of food and high-end dining in a relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on the ingredients, the flavors, the flare, and the love of all things food. Better still, the entire event is a fundraiser for the American Liver Association.

The Flavors of Phoenix Event

This year’s event was another success, and we are already looking forward to next May for 2019’s gathering. Held at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, this year’s 26th annual event featured 35 local chefs from across Arizona. With specialties ranging from sushi to French to Pacific Fusion, each was in charge of their own table of 12 guests. From start to finish, these talented culinary auteurs set the mood with stylish linens, personalized table settings, hand-cut flowers, centerpieces, and a theme all their own. Diners were treated to a front row seats as their meal was prepped and cooked right before their very eyes. Through it all, the casual conversation and delicious wine pairings flowed freely, with local masters like Tom D’Ambrosio of Phoenix’s Aioli Gourmet providing cooking tips as he toiled tirelessly.

The Cause

Part of a nationwide network of food-focused fundraisers, the Flavors of Phoenix raises funds for research, education, and prevention of liver-related diseases that afflict more than 30 million Americans. The patronage of generous diners – plus donations and proceeds from the night’s auction – contributes to the valuable work that the American Liver Foundation does in raising awareness.

Healthy Recipes

Participating chefs are always eager to share their liver-friendly, health conscious recipes with attendees, and this year was no different. So whether you want to recreate the decadent experience of this year’s Flavor event, or prepare for next year’s, be sure to try these incredible dishes. We are particularly fond of the Honey Cider Glazed Broccolini with Toasted Hazelnuts, Chia, and Feta Cheese, though we certainly wouldn’t say no to an extra helping of the Poached Quail with Peach Cranberry Chutney and Black Truffle Risotto. Decisions, decisions…I guess we should just have both!
